My role was to compose the layers provided by the Lighting and Matte Painting departments in a final shot and compose them in stereo.
I had the chance to develop a in-house nuke (gizmo) tool ¨Surface Sparkles¨. The tool created a procedural texture that simulated the specular reflection seen on real photography.
The tool was done entirely with TCL scripting and Python callbacks. The gizmo allows the artist to generate several layers of this effect with a friendly UI with a minimum impact on memory efficiency and node weight.
The gizmo was stereo ready. This effect was used so increase the surface realism of snow throughout the film.
